About Us

Cathy and Nick look forward to welcoming you to Phoenix Hostel.
You'll find everything you expect from a modern hostel within our unusual 1850's timber-framed house.
Phoenix is part of an ensemble of listed buildings perfectly situated in the old quarter "Varosha", just two minutes walk
from the buzzing day & night life of the city and convenient for all the interesting sights.
Carefully renovated and furnished you'll find us clean and comfortable, safe and secure and you can be sure we'll look after you.

WE have 3 dorm rooms with 4, 5 and 7 beds. The 4 bed room can be booked as a private twin (please do not book this room as a twin AND a dorm, it is the same room)
Stay for 3 nights and pay for only 2 (Book 2 nights and tell us you would like the 3rd night by email when we have acknowledged your booking. Valid once per person per visit, excluding Easter, Christmas and New Year)

How to Find Us

From the bus or train stations in Veliko Tarnovo just call us and we'll collect you, no charge.
Or take a taxi to 'Petko Slaveikov's' birthplace and monument above 'Halitey' and we're in front of you.
If you ask for 'Pepys Bar' the taxi will take you to Halitey and we are one minutes walk from there. There is a sign for the hostel opposite "Pizza Ego"
We are just a few minutes walk from 'Mother Bulgaria square' or the Post Office.
Follow the main street towards the old town (if you look at the houses on the hill in front of you, you will see our big green wall, a little below the church tower).
Just after the main road bends to the right take the first left turn into 'Halitey' carpark ( opposite the restaurant "Vinarnata").
From back of the carpark take the left hand cobbled street (opposite Pizza Ego you will see a sign for the hostel) and walk uphill for 70 meters.
You will see us by the statue on the right.

Remember we will collect you if you for free if you ask us to.
