About Us

Wynken Blynken Nod is a small beachside backpackers hostel on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. The property houses one large main building and beach cabins. In the large main building are 4 private rooms, in 3 separate suites known as Wynken Blynken and Nod, an 8 bunk Dorm Room, lounge and kitchens. The bunkhouse is a separate self contained building on the beach. The location is absolutely awesome, you won't believe it until you see it.

How to Find Us

By PUBLIC TRANSIT
From downtown Vancouver, at the corner of Granville and Georgia, catch the #257 to Horseshoe Bay. The terminal on the Sunshine Coast is at Langdale. The walk on passenger rate varies seasonally and costs up to $10 and the ferry ride takes about 45 minutes. Don't miss the views from the upper deck! From the Langdale ferry terminal parking lot there is a bus which brings you straight to Gibsons. About 2 km's up the road watch for the sign for Gibsons Landing and get off the bus at the first stop after you see the sign or ask the driver to let you off at Armours Beach. If you miss it, get off at the main stop outside the 'Just a Cuppa' coffee shop in town and walk back one long block. From Armours, walk up one block to the corner of Beach Avenue and Marine drive. Across the street, on the waterfront is a huge old cedar hedge and a sign which reads Wynken Blynken Nod HOSTEL. That's it. Come through the hedge and down to the beach to the office in my house #528.

From the AIRPORT:
The simplest way to get to the coast is by the Malaspina Coach line. Check the net for schedules and price information. The Coach goes from the Airport through Vancouver onto the ferry and Arrives at the coffee shop up the road. Walk back one block to the corner of Beach Avenue, the WBNB is across the street.

BY CAR
From Vancouver
If you are coming from out of town, take highway #1 across the Second Narrows bridge. From Vancouver take the Lion's Gate bridge into West Vancouver and follow the signs back to highway #1. Follow the highway to the ferry terminal at Horseshoe Bay. Follow the signs directing you to Langdale, on the Sunshine Coast. The ferry prices vary seasonally and the cost is somewhere around $30 for a vehicle and $9 per passenger, children are 1/2 price. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes. From the ferry turn left at the first set of light onto MARINE DRIVE.Follow Marine Drive into Gibsons Landing. Just after the sign for Gibsons Landing the speed limit slows to 30km/hour. The first corner is Beach avenue and marine drive, just after this corner pull over and pWBN HOSTEL sign. Through the hedge, down the stairs on the beach at #528 is the place to check in.

Things to Do around Us

Kayaking, mountain biking and hiking are the three biggest draws to the coast.
Sunshine kayaks 2 blocks away on the beach has anything you need to venture out in a kayak.
The Coast is riddled with various mountain bike tracks through the forests, varying degrees of skills required. Maps of the trails are available at Spin Cycles bike shop.
Because the Sunshine Coast is mountainous and forested and on the sea, there are so many hiking and walking trails it could take you forever to do them all. Maps available.
The sunshine Coast is renowned for our local artisans. Myriad shops and galleries display amazing atworks of every genre, blown glas and metal workis as well as photography and paintings and much much more.
Local musicians abound and although the winter months are quieter, the summer is loaded with live music venues, with local bands and DJ's and lot's of off coast acts as well.
