About Us

Hi-Austin rests on the shores of Town Lake, providing a peaceful setting only minutes from downtown Austin. Guests are only footsteps away from bus lines, the hike & bike trail, and the Colorado River - bikes, canoes, and kayaks are conveniently available for rent. A 10 minute journey could take you to the middle of the Red River music district, to the stylish hub of South Congress, to the cool waters of Barton Springs Pool, or to the natural beauty of the Austin Greenbelt. Our fun and friendly staff would love to give you some ideas of what to do in town and directions on how to get there!

Bed linens and internet access are included in the rate. Our rates are $19 per night for Hostelling International members. For non-members, there is a $3 daily membership fee. No check in after 10 pm. (22:00hr)

As of May 15, 2007 HI-Austin will begin charging a 15% Lodging Tax on all overnight stays in accordance with Texas state law.

As part of our high quality standards, a government-issued photo ID (such as a passport or drivers license) must be presented upon check-in.

Beginning June 1, 2007, there will be an extra $10 charge added to late check-ins after 10:30 pm.

No curfew, comfortable 24 hour lobby overlooks Town Lake. Dormitories open 3pm-11am (17:00hr-->11:00hr). Lockers in rooms, 1 per person. Central air conditioning and heat for your comfort.

Group reservations of more than 6 total beds require 50% hostel deposit and minimum one week cancellation notice.

How to Find Us

HI-Austin is located 2 miles (3km) from downtown Austin and the live music scene.
Hostel is on the south shore of Town Lake and East of Interstate 35. South Lakeshore Blvd. runs between East Riverside and Pleasant Valley.

If driving, take exit # 233 from I-35 and go east, then take first left on Lakeshore Blvd.
City bus (Capitol Metro) available from Greyhound Bus Station (take Bus #7 Duval); Airport (Bus # 350/ACC transfer to # 26; Downtown Austin (Bus # 26 or # 27); University of Texas (LS or NR shuttle).
Bus stops are 5-7 minute walk to hostel.
