About Us

Welcome to the Talkeetna Hostel!! We're a modern and cozy hostel in a wooded setting, within walking distance to downtown, the train, and Talkeetna Airport. This is a great place to kick off an alaskan adventure, or just to sit back and relax for a few days. Make yourself at home!!

Our hostel offers private and bunk rooms, as well as camping. Linen, towels, pillows, and blankets are also available. There are new bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, free internet, book exchange, hostlers art wall, BBQ, VCR/movies, and complimentary hot beverages all day.

Visa, MC, Discover, and Travlers Checks accepted.

How to Find Us

From Anchorage:
Take the Glenn Highway north to the Parks Highway. Just after mile 98 turn right onto the Talkeetna Spur Rd. At approximately mile 14 (mile 13.8), turn right towards the airport onto 2nd Street. Go straight, turn left on 'I' Street (across from Talkeetna Air Taxi). Talkeetna Hostel International is the third house on the right.

Talkeetna Shuttle brings you right to the hostel door from Anchorage, Parks Highway Express drops you off at the junction, 14 miles from town.

From Fairbanks:
Take the Parks Highway south to mile 99. Turn left on the Talkeetna Spur Rd, which is just after the Sunshine truck stop and restaurant. At approximately mile 14 (mile 13.8), turn right towards the airport onto 2nd street. Go straight, turn left on 'I' street (across from Talkeetna Air Taxi). Talkeetna Hostel International is the third house on the right.

Things to Do around Us

Talkeetna is what most people are looking for when they come to Alaska. Just hanging out and getting to know the locals can be an adventure in itself! Or you can flightsee, river raft, take a trainride out to remote camping sites, climb a mountain (Denali......but better plan ahead for that one!), visit musems and shops (must stop at the chocolate shop....yummy!) go fishing, hiking, or biking. Great cross country skiing in the winter, not to mention the northern lights!! Good coffee shops and resturants as well.

The hostel is a great place to sit and read a book, or join us in the backyard for one of our typical bonfire and bbq parties (lots of moose and salmon). If you are looking for night life, the West Rib Pub and Fairview Inn will most likely meet your expectations. Live Music all summer long.
